Reading Ilya's Travelog has set my mouth watering to get to mainland Europe again!

Has anyone ever been to Lille?  Joss and I have heard it's a good place to visit, and it has the advantage of being one of the stations on the Eurostar line.

Unfortunately, this is one of the perpetual "some day" destinations on our list...  Sad

We've been but unfortunately is was just a drive by on our way to Belgium and we had planned on stopping before we came back but much like all our planning or lack there of we ran out time.

It is so easy to travel to mainland Europe these days, especially with Eurostar Thumb up You and Joss should go for a nice long weekend just to have a look around.

Hi Howard,

We have been through Lille a dozen times when we go to Paris via Eurorail but we have never stopped.  The area looks really nice and it was the Cultural Centre in 2004.  I know people who have been and really liked it.  From the way people talk about it I have the impression it is a lot like Brugge.  Have fun and let me know how it is.

Thanks, everyone!

It looks as if Lille is less than four hours away by train, so plans are already formulating in my head!
