(Forehead slap) I should know by now to always check Snopes before responding to somethign like this.

When I first arrived in Oz, I made myself a vegemite butty kind of like a peanut butter one, with the stuff smeared on 1/4 of an inch thick.  Couldn't finish it.  Much later, a native made me one with just a tiny bit.  I was hooked.  And within 6 months I was eating it smeared on 1/4 of an inch thick.

Vegemite is one thing but.....

Even I, who quite likes Marmite - cannot imagine the idea of a Marmite sandwich 1/4 inch thick - damn! that would make your eyes water!!  Cry Cry Cry  ROFL

Although I am not a huge marmite fan (I can eat and like Twigletts but not the Marmite itself) I would be very upset if this country put a total ban on peanut butter so I can understand why an Oz might be upset.

My husband and son (see? I am not a bad mom and allow my son to eat junk Grin) will eat marmite sandwiches but the marmite is spread randomly and very thin and the other piece of bread has butter on it Thumb down
