Hey another Canadian on board!!!
I'm saffy, from a little town called Baddeck in Nova Scotia. Was born in Toronto, but moved here when I was 2 and am by all respects a Bluenoser by now.
I am a kilt maker, and a single mom. Have a wonderful 9 year old son.
Not sure what else, any questions on what it is like to live in "God's country" just ask

It's beautiful here in NS. Nova Scotia means 'New Scotland' and was named because the Highlands of Cape Breton reminded early settlers of the Highlands of Scotland.
I've been making kilts for 2 years now, technically I am still an apprentice, learning the traditional way of hand sewing 8+ meters of tartan into a marvelous garment.
I have another 5 years to go before I can be called a master kilt maker

I have a few pics of one in the process.
It's a Black Watch kilt for our rental department. 10+m of tartan in this particular kilt.
Here it is laid out on the table
Some of the pleats sewn in, each one has more than 100 hand stitches. The pin is to mark the center back.
A close up of the stitches
From the back to show the depth of the pleats
Sewing on the fringe on the front panel
And my wrist pincushion
