Sandy Allen, the world's tallest woman.  I used to see her at lunchtime when I worked in downtown Indianapolis.  She was two and one-half feet taller than I am.

Wherever she is, may there be a very sweet, very tall man to grant her every wish.

I remember reading about her when I was living in Indy.  I did not realize that she was that old, but it has been quite a while since I lived in Indy.

R.I.P. Angelina

I remember seeing her on telly many years ago. How sad that she never found her special friend. I'm with Jan, I hope she meets her match where ever she is. RIP

I did not know you used to live here.  Where (if you don't mind my asking) and when?

I lived there 1960 to 1965 and 1966 to 1974.
I moved there and lived with my Aunt and Uncle, until Feb 1964. Married, had two children, (Mrs. M., who is my daughter and my son, R---, were born there.)

My 1st place that I lived in Indy was in Mars Hill, which is a suburb on the SW side of Indy near Rt. 67.  And some more places in Indy.  My first job was a wrapper at L. Strauss, (W.Wash. and S.Ill. Streets) for 3 months and I worked at Hook's Drug Store for 4 years at the restaurant part.

I remember that Strauss store.  There were lots of nice stores in that area when I was a girl: L.S. Ayres, Blocks, and do you remember Weiss' Deli?  It's long gone now--all of those are gone.

I started working downtown Indianapolis in 1979, in the City-County Building, and worked in that same area until 7-1/2 years ago, when I came to work in Carmel (by the Freeway).  Have you been back to Indianapolis?  It does not look quite the same as it did in the 1970's.  Downtown is really nice.  My daughter has lived down there for several years, moved up to Broadripple a couple years ago, and is getting ready to move back downtown in two weeks.  It's a great place to live--loads to do.  I find myself being a bit envious.
