I hope everyone is enjoying this current spell of really nice weather!

Alas, it's not going to last.  The word on BBC radio this morning was, "Today - hot, tomorrow - not!"

Anyhoo, just to remind us how nice the weather was, as it gets colder, here's a photo of roses in my back garden.  And to prove to Steve and other East-of-the-Pennines people that I'm not totally partisan about red roses, I included white roses in the shot (and some yellow roses for our Texans!1)  The long brindled blob in the distance is our cat Robbie.

1Yes, I know the State Flower of Texas is the bluebonnet, but I haven't got any of those in my garden.

So, this is what passes for a "summer" in England, huh?

(I know the answer, by the way, I've been here for a couple of years  Roll Eyes)

Thanks, Ilya!  I wish I could take credit for them, but it's my wife Joss who's the green-fingered one.  Everything I have to do with in the garden withers and dies!

With regard to the summer, what are temperatures and weather like where you come from in the States?

It was gorgeous today! Too bad I had to spend it at the office in doors. I am hoping for weather like this in July when we take another boat trip on the Broads.

lovely weather here in North Staffs. I'm hoping tomorrow won't be too bad, I could do with doing some gardening and wash my car. The weather on Sunday was just as fab, we took the Liz out for a spin - topless.

Howard, you've got some lovely roses! Mine haven't quite bloomed yet apart from the dog roses that my mom bought me last year. I think my yellow one has 1 open bloom. I can't wait for my garden to fully burst into colour!

Do you know that I never have thought about what my state flower was? I thought it was a sunflower, LOL. Nope, I am from California, looked it up and it's a poppy. What is your state flower?

Hey, that's great, Cheryl!  Nothing quite like a boating holiday.  Thumb up

I'm from New Jersey, Howard, where just yesterday the temperatures climbed to 105 Fahrenheit = 40 Celcius.   Angry  Not pleasant - and I would not pretend that I did not like it a tad bit cooler...  That notwithstanding, the sunny and warm-to-hot weather normally lasts May through September.

I knew this one because we've got it growing in my parent's back garden, boy do I miss it's sweet scent.
