Welcome to the UK-US Forum! So who is welcome? Well, quite a lot of people! British in the UK, Americans in the United States, Americans in the UK, Britons in America, and anyone else who is interested in the comparative lives and cultures of our two countries. Australian? Canadian? African? Indian? All are welcome - the whole English-speaking community of the world. Why create this forum? We know there are other forums (fora?), bulletin boards and discussion boards available. For instance, UKYankees is principally aimed at American expatriates living in the UK, whereas British Expats is aimed at British expatriates anywhere in the world. Both of those forums are set up to offer practical advice to those living abroad. The UK-US Forum makes no assumptions about where anybody lives - you never need to have left your own country. As long as you are interested in those who live in other English-speaking countries and would like to discuss the similarities and differences, you have come to the right place. This is not primarily a resource for advice, particularly for ex-pats; rather, it is a resource where you can communicate and, we hope, make friends. The UK-US Forum is free, and there will never, ever, be a subscription introduced. All that is required of you is tolerance, mutual respect and good-humor. You are asked to register before posting, but you can read the majority of the topics without having to do so. We do have some pretty straightforward Terms and Conditions of Use which we urge you to read, but basically it's just a matter of common sense and courtesy.
Now you can move on to the Forum Home Page (the Home link anywhere on the site will take you to it, not back to this page) and look at some topics in detail!
